Rippon Vineyard & Winery is very proud to host New Zealand’s favourite musicians and the fans that come to hear them play. Every second year over Waitangi weekend (1st weekend of February), we share the land with 12 bands and 5000 people in an event which has become one of New Zealand’s most popular contemporary music festivals.
Including rock, reggae, hip-hop, soul, dance, metal, jazz (you name it!), it is an eclectic mix of the well known and the emerging. Twelve hours of top Kiwi music, followed by an afterparty for those hardy souls who want to keep going until dawn.

Rippon Music Festival is the brainchild of our local high school music teacher, Lynne Christie. She directs Lake Wanaka SouNZ Inc, a non profit organisation which places the proceeds of this event towards local charities and music scholarships. The working environment Lynne and her immensely motivated team create, both in front of the stage and behind, is a huge part of why both bands and revellers keep wanting to come back year after year.
Many of the bands start hassling Lynne for a spot over a year in advance. When the 5000 tickets went on sale (four months before the concert) it only took 28 days for them to sell out.
So, don’t miss the next one!
